In 2000, CBC founded Women In Scripture (WIS), a weekly Bible study with the purpose of offering women a secure place to study God’s Word, laugh, cry, talk, share and grow in the Lord. Since then, dozens of women from the Lilburn community and surrounding areas have benefited from this insightful, in-depth study.
WIS classes will resume on Tuesday, September 5th, at 7:00 PM and Wednesday, September 6th at 10:00 AM. We invite ladies to join us as we begin our study on the gospel of John. Registration:
Classes are held on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings:
Tuesday Evening Class:
- Meets 7:00–8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall
- Worship for 15 minutes begins promptly at 7 p.m.
- Small group discussion begins after Worship
- Study runs from early September to early May
- Fall Study: The gospel of John

- Meets 10:00 a.m.–11:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
- Small group discussion begins promptly at 10 a.m.
- Large Group meeting for 15 minutes after Small Groups

Four-Part Class Format:
WIS is a four-part study, with each part building on the others for a deeper understanding of God’s Word and application to daily living.
- Questions for personal study at home
- Discussion of the questions in a small group setting
- Application-oriented lecture on the week’s study
- Verse-by-verse commentary on the week’s Scripture passages
- Commentaries used in the studies were researched and written by the late Dr. Doug McIntosh. The questions for the studies were contributed by various people.
Study Notebook:
At the beginning of each semester, students will receive a notebook containing each semester’s questions and commentaries. This allows for greater flexibility in self-study.
